@MSUDenverBSB: Price Elevated to Roadrunners' Pitching Coach
DENVER – MSU Denver baseball coach Ryan Strain has announced that Jordan Price has been promoted and will serve as the Roadrunners' pitching coach.
"We're really excited to elevate JP to be our pitching coach," Strain said. "When I brought him on last year, he wanted to get back into college baseball. And when this job came open, I talked to him about the opportunity, and he was excited about this challenge."
Price worked with both pitchers and position players for the Roadrunners last season.
Prior to MSU Denver, he spent two seasons with the Badlands Big Sticks of the Independence League Baseball Association in Dickinson, N.D. He was the head coach/field manager during the 2023 season after serving as the pitching coach in 2022. He returned as manager for the Big Sticks again in 2024.
"I couldn't be happier to have him to our program," Strain said. "He has a vision that's similar to mine on what we're trying to do with this program, and I think he'll do a tremendous job with our pitching staff. He has a good track record of coaching and working with pitchers, at Valor Christian (High School) and managing in the Northwoods League the last couple of summers."
Price also worked at Rogue Baseball Performance from 2019-20, where he was a pitching and throwing instructor and was the head coach for the summer 16U team.
Price became an assistant coach at Valor Christian High School in 2019, coordinating the team's pitching and defense. He also implemented an offseason throwing program and a pitch calling/location system. He continued to work with the team through 2023.
He had been a teacher at Rocky Heights Middle School in Castle Rock, Colo., from 2020-24. Prior to that he was the head of the physical education department and an assistant coach in baseball and football at The Brook Hill School in Bullard, Texas, in 2018-19 and was teacher and assistant coach in baseball and football and Longview (Texas) High School from 2015-17.
