DENVER, Colo.- After playing through a rainy night yesterday, the MSU Denver Roadrunners were back on their home field under better weather, looking for two more wins against their conference rivals, the UCCS Mountain Lions.

The Roadrunners secured both wins Saturday afternoon, which leaves them looking for a sweep tomorrow.

The first game was close and competitive, much like yesterday's win. The Roadrunners were efficient, scoring seven runs on 10 hits, completing the comeback win with a walk off in the seventh. They won by a score of 7-6. In the second game, the Roadrunners showcased their offense, winning 18-3.

The Roadrunners are now 27-17 overall and 19-7 in conference play. They are currently third in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

GAME ONE
The Mountain Lions made it clear that they were ready to play. Bryce Peterson hit a home run to left-center, which also allowed Mikey Brinton to score, putting the Mountain Lions up two in the top of the first inning. The Roadrunners answered with a home run of their own, hit by Erubiel Ortiz.

Gavin Schmeh grounded into a double play, where Andrew Graham scored, tying the game 2-2. The Roadrunners were not finished; they went up in the game for the first time thanks to a run from Easton Amundson

Jesse Velders hit a home run to put the Roadrunners ahead once again during the bottom of the third inning, 4-3.

In a repeat of the previous inning, Royce Vandine hit another home run for the Roadrunners, allowing them to tie the game, 5-5.

In the sixth inning, Brinton scored a home run of his own, putting the Mountain Lions up 6-5.

The last inning was crucial for the Roadrunners. The pitching from the Roadrunners shined when it was needed most, only allowing one hit in the top of the seventh inning, giving the home team hope.

The Roadrunners made the most out of their opportunities. Ortiz and River Jackson put up two more runs, giving the Roadrunners the win.

GAME TWO
Quinn Medin opened the second game with a home run to left-field. Velders had an answer for that; he hit his second home run of the afternoon.

The second inning was outstanding for the Roadrunners. They scored five runs, including a home run from Ortiz while the bases were loaded.

The home runs kept coming for the Roadrunners. Hayes Edens hit one to right-center, giving the Roadrunners a seven-run lead in the bottom of the third.

Edens was not done and came back for more in the next inning, scoring his second home run of the game. Now, the Roadrunners were up 14-2.

The Mountain Lions also wanted to participate in this home run party. Kasey Campbell hit the ball to right-field; however, the Mountain Lions were still trailing by 12 runs. The Roadrunners wanted to secure their win, and Tyler Toby scored the second home run of the inning.

The Roadrunners won the game 18-3, five of those being home runs. Once again, the Roadrunners made the most of their opportunities, scoring 18 runs on 21 hits.

UP NEXT
MSU Denver will be back tomorrow at the Assembly Athletic Complex to close out the four-game series against the Mountain Lions at noon.
