@MSUDenverMBB: Caleb McGill Awarded RMAC's Academic Player of the Year
DENVER — The MSU Denver Roadrunners very own Caleb McGill has been named the 2024-25 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Academic Player of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday. Senior Brayden Carter and sophomore Logan Threatt were also named to the RMAC's Academic Honor Roll.
McGill, a Colorado native, was named to the 2023-24 Academic All-RMAC Honor Roll before jumping to Academic Player of the Year this season. On the court, McGill averaged 14.4 points per game this season. The senior was an efficient scorer throughout the 2024-25 season, as he shot 56% from the field, 45% from three, and 77% from the free-throw line. When he wasn't scoring, McGill cleaned the boards, averaging 7.3 rebounds per game. Defensively, the Roadrunner recorded 28 blocks and 21 steals across a 29-game season.
While the senior dominated on the court, he was also taking care of business in the classroom. He carried a 3.89 GPA while majoring in Communications.
Carter led his team with 238 total rebounds, while averaging 8.2 per game, good enough for the second-most in the league. His 86 offensive rebounds led the RMAC by a wide margin, with the next closest individual recording 69 offensive boards. Carter recorded 26 points in a win over South Dakota Mines, the most points scored by a Roadrunner in a single game during the 2024-25 season.
Threatt (302 points, 104 rebounds) ranked third and fourth for the Roadrunners in scoring and rebounding as a sophomore. Carter and Threatt were also named All-RMAC Honorable Mentions this last week.
