@MSUDenverTennis: Hafner, Kantola Named to All-PacWest Team

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Nationally-ranked MSU Denver tennis players Emily Hafner and Juho Kantola have been named to the All-Pacific West Conference second team in singles in voting by league coaches.

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Nationally-ranked MSU Denver tennis players Emily Hafner and Juho Kantola have been named to the All-Pacific West Conference second team in singles in voting by league coaches.
 
Additionally, Kantola and partner Marco Jalalian have been named All-PacWest third team in doubles.
 
Hafner is ranked No. 19 in Division II by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, putting her third among all PacWest women's players, while compiling a 20-13 record – her win total is tied for the fourth-most in a single season in program history. She made a splash after transferring to MSU Denver for her senior season in the fall, finishing as the runner-up at the ITA West Regionals and then winning a match at the ITA Cup. She has been ranked as high as No. 8 this season.
 
Kantola (17-7), who has been ranked as high as No. 23 this season, is currently No. 73. He has career record of 36-13 in singles for a .735 winning percentage that ranks seventh in program history. It's his second straight appearance on the All-PacWest second team in singles as well as on the All-PacWest third team in doubles.
 
Jalalian joined MSU Denver at the semester break with a reputation for strong doubles play and lived up to the billing, as he and Kantola spent time in the national rankings this season while compiling a record of 9-7 at the No. 1 position.
