Roadrunners Sweep Hawaii-Hilo for First Conference Win of the Season
COLORADO SPRINGS — The MSU Denver Roadrunners soared their way to their first conference win of the season, with a 7-0 sweep over Hawaii-Hilo Friday afternoon.
This is the Roadrunners fifth win of the season, and move to 5-7 overall on the year. They also break their three-match losing streak.
"First conference win in the books!" Head coach Bruno Campos stated. "Incredibly proud of the boys for their effort today, but this is just the beginning. We have another battle ahead, and with less than 24 hours to recover and prepare, our focus shifts to the challenge ahead. Hilo is a strong team, and we need to be ready. Let's keep building."
Marco Jalalian and Alessandro Munoz proved victorious in their doubles match, winning 6-3. Alejandro Jimenez and Hector Cebrian Moral clinched the doubles point for the Roadrunners, handling their opponents 6-1.
Jimenez made quick work of his opponent in singles, taking home the win in two sets, 6-2, 6-1. Munoz also won in two sets, 6-4, 6-4.
The Roadrunners will be back in action tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. MT, where they will take on Hawaii-Hilo once more down in Colorado Springs.
