@MSUDenverWBB: MSU Denver Falls to CSU Pueblo in Road Matchup
PUEBLO, COLO. - MSU Denver struggled to keep pace with CSU Pueblo, falling 72-49 on Thursday night. The Roadrunners kept it close early but were ultimately overwhelmed by the ThunderWolves' second-half surge.
Despite a balanced scoring effort, MSU Denver couldn't overcome a dominant performance from CSU Pueblo's Alisha Little, who led all scorers with 32 points on 14-of-21 shooting. She also added 10 rebounds, four blocks, and eight steals in a commanding two-way display.
The Roadrunners got 12 points from Nevaeh Millard, who also contributed four rebounds. Brianna Sealy chipped in with 10 points off the bench, while Brooklynn Jones added eight.
MSU Denver started slow, scoring just eight points in the opening quarter, but managed to stay within striking distance, trailing 25-21 at halftime. However, CSU Pueblo pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Roadrunners 47-28 after the break. The ThunderWolves shot 73.3% from the field in the final quarter to seal the win.
Turnovers proved costly for MSU Denver, as they gave the ball away 32 times, leading to 31 points for CSU Pueblo. Meanwhile, the Roadrunners struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 20% (4-of-20) from three-point range.
With just one game remaining in the regular season, MSU Denver (6-21 overall, 5-14 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) will look to finish on a high note and get back into the win column against Colorado Christian on Saturday, March 1 at 1 p.m.
