This Week in Roadrunners Athletics
DENVER – The No. 3-ranked volleyball team competes in the NCAA Tournament, while the basketball teams head on the road to start conference play.
VOLLEYBALL
#6 seed Texas Woman's vs #3 seed MSU Denver, Friday, 10:00 a.m.
After winning the RMAC Tournament championship, the volleyball team earned the three seed in the South Central Regional Tournament. They will head to San Angelo, Texas where Angelo State earned the top seed in the region. Their first opponent will be the Pioneers from Texas Woman's, who comes into the tournament with a 19-9 overall record and a 12-4 record in the Lone Star Conference. The semifinals of the regional tournament will take place on Saturday, with the regional final kicking off on Sunday at 3 p.m.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
MSU Denver at Fort Lewis, Thursday, 7:30 p.m.
MSU Denver at Adams State, Saturday, 3:00 p.m.
The Roadrunners are coming off a 2-0 weekend where they defeated 17th-ranked Saint Martin's and NAIA opponent Northern New Mexico in the Thanksgiving Classic. Head coach Dan Ficke's squad now stands at 5-1 on the season with the conference season coming up this weekend. MSU Denver will head to Durango, Colorado on Thursday to battle the Skyhawks from Fort Lewis, and then face off against the Adams State Grizzlies on Saturday in Alamosa, Colorado.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
MSU Denver at Fort Lewis, Thursday, 5:30 p.m.
MSU Denver at Adams State, Saturday, 1:00 p.m.
The Roadrunners are coming off a 1-1 weekend where they defeated Seattle Pacific in Seattle before falling to Saint Martin's the following day. Junior guard Ashlyn Yow hit a late three-point shot to give MSU Denver the 57-56 win. Head coach Tanya Haave and her squad will next head on the road to kickoff RMAC play. They'll first take on Fort Lewis in Durango on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. before going toe-to-toe with the Grizzlies from Adams State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Mines Alumni Classic, Dec 6 & 7 in Golden, Colorado
Head coach Janis Christopher will take the squad to Golden on Friday and Saturday to kickoff their season. The team will feature mostly their throwers and their sprinters this weekend.
