DENVER, CO – In another thrilling RMAC clash, the MSU Denver women's basketball team held off a late charge from crosstown rivals Regis to secure a 74-68 victory on Tuesday evening. This was the Roadrunners third consecutive win, and fourth win out of their last five games.
 
MSU Denver came out firing, building an early 22-13 lead in the first quarter. The team capitalized on its sharp perimeter shooting, hitting four three-pointers in the opening frame. The Roadrunners extended their lead to 16 points at halftime, with Nevaeh Millard pacing the offense with a career-high 22 points, including three triples.
 
Brooklynn Jones provided a significant spark off the bench, pouring in 19 points on 5-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc. Laci Roffle also contributed 12 points and five rebounds.
 
Regis struggled offensively in the first half but found their rhythm in the second. The Rangers narrowed the gap to just two points with less than a minute remaining. Despite Regis' valiant comeback, MSU Denver's free-throw shooting in the closing seconds proved decisive. Mikylah Espinosa and Brooklynn Jones knocked down key foul shots to ice the game, maintaining the Roadrunners' slim lead and securing their fifth conference win.
 
The Roadrunners' bench played a pivotal role, outscoring Regis' reserves 35-0. MSU Denver also turned defense into offense, scoring 15 points off turnovers and 20 on the fast break.
 
MSU Denver (6-11 overall, 5-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) will look to continue its hot streak when the team travels to Golden, Colorado on Thursday, January 23 to take on Colorado School of Mines at 5:30 p.m.
