@RoadrunnerSB: MSU Denver Rises to No. 7 in Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – After a big week, the MSU Denver softball team has moved into the top eight in the NCAA's official Division II South Central Region rankings, jumping three positions from No. 10 to No. 7.

After conference tournament play this weekend, on Monday morning eight teams will be named to play in the NCAA Tournament's South Central Regional. The champions of the Rocky Mountain Athletic and Lone Star tournaments earn automatic bids to the regional, with a final set of regional rankings used to determine six at-large entrants as well as seedings and host schools.

Last week, MSU Denver earned a key split in a four-game series at Colorado Christian – ranked No. 6 nationally at the time – and also had a doubleheader sweep of Colorado School of Mines on Monday, April 22, that wasn't taken into consideration until this week's rankings.

Though in position to qualify, MSU Denver (40-16) would like to have a quality performance this weekend at the RMAC Tournament to be assured that it would qualify for the regional. The Roadrunners are seeking their first trip to the regional since 2016.
