@MSUDenverSB: Roadrunners Fall in 11 Innings to Colorado Mesa, Win Game Two Against CSU Pueblo

DENVER — The MSU Denver Roadrunners dropped their second game of the RMAC Championship tournament to the Colorado Mesa Mavericks in an 11-inning thriller.

DENVER — The MSU Denver Roadrunners dropped their second game of the RMAC Championship tournament to the Colorado Mesa Mavericks in an 11-inning thriller, but bounced back later in the afternoon with a win over the CSU Pueblo Thunderwolves by a score of 9-1. 

With the win, MSU Denver keeps their RMAC Championship hopes alive, and will play against UCCS tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. MT. 

GAME ONE
Miki Berg recorded the only homer of the game for the Roadrunners in the fourth inning for the first MSU Denver lead of the game. She went 1-for-4 with three runs and a walk. 

Jaiden Geist and Adriana Bueno tallied multi-hit games, each going 2-for-5 on the game. 

Natalie Romero and Sam Mader each threw five innings in the circle for the Roadrunners. Romero gave up four runs on eight hits.

Mader was masterful in relief, throwing four shutout innings before allowing the walk-off home run in the 11th inning. She gave up three hits while striking out three batters. 

GAME TWO
Jenna Medhus got the start in game two in the circle for the Roadrunners and threw five innings, allowing just one run on three hits. She picked up the win and also recorded the first RBI of the game. 

Alexia Boring and Miki Berg notched the multi-hit games for MSU Denver, both going 2-for-4 at the plate. Berg knocked in two runs on an RBI double and single, while Boring came around to score twice. Jaiden Geist went 1-for-1 with two walks and a run scored as well. 

Brooklyn Enny sealed the game in the sixth with a two-RBI single into the left center gap. 
 

GAME ONE SUMMARY
Colorado Mesa struck first with a solo shot in the bottom half of the first frame for a 1-0 lead. The Roadrunners tied it up the following inning with an RBI single from Adriana Bueno

A Berg line shot over the fence in left put MSU Denver in the lead in fourth inning, 2-1. 

Three runs for the Mavericks in the fifth put them up 4-2 with just two innings of play left. The Roadrunners answered right back the following half frame, tying the game at four. Aaliyah Arellano singled to right which scored one and a throwing error brought the second runner around. 

Sam Mader came in relief for MSU Denver in the sixth and tossed four shutout innings until the Mavericks hit a walk-off homer in the 11th inning for the win. 

GAME TWO SUMMARY
The Roadrunners struck first in game one in the bottom half of the first with a Medhus sac fly that scored Boring for a 1-0 lead. An RBI single from Maney the following inning put MSU Denver up 2-0. 

The Thunder Wolves scored their first run of the game in the third on a sac fly of their own, but that's all they would get in this contest. 

After scoring a run in the the third and fourth innings, the Roadrunners piled on for a five-run sixth inning for a run rule over CSU Pueblo, that keeps them alive in the tournament.
