LAS VEGAS, N.M. — The MSU Denver Roadrunners had a successful day against the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls, allowing just one run across two games during their Thursday afternoon doubleheader sweep.

The Roadrunners are now 36-10 overall on the season and 31-6 in RMAC play.

It was the MSU Denver pitching in the circle that propelled them to two more wins, with Natalie Romero and Jenna Medhus both going the distance in each game and picking up the win.

Romero went seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out six batters as well. She goes to 17-3 overall on the campaign.

Medhus also tossed a complete game in the second contest, allowing three hits in a shutout. She improves to 5-2 on the year. She also recorded three-hits in both games, going 6-for-8, knocking in 4 of the 11 MSUD runs on the day.

Katie Maney and Alexia Boring were the only other Roadrunners with a multi-hit game, both going 2-for-4 with an RBI in game two.

GAME ONE
The Roadrunners grabbed the first run of the game in the top half of the first on a Medhus single. Another RBI single from Medhus in the third inning made it a 2-1 ballgame.

New Mexico Highlands hit a ground-rule double in the third frame to cut the deficit to one run.

Medhus repeated her first runs batted in with yet another RBI single, this time in the seventh for a 3-1 Roadrunners lead. Miki Berg extended the lead to three shortly after on a fielder's choice.

The Roadrunners would close out game one by a score of 4-1.

GAME TWO
After a scoreless three innings in this contest, Berg broke through for the first run of the game with a sac fly in fourth to score Medhus for an MSU Denver 1-0 lead.

Adriana Bueno hit a solo shot the next inning to extend the lead to two. Another Medhus single made it a 3-0 MSUD advantage at the end of five.

RBI hits from Maney, Hannah DiFabio, Boring, and Jaden Geist in the sixth inning rounded out the scoring for the Roadrunners, as they would close this one out 7-0.

UP NEXT
The Roadrunners will close out the series tomorrow afternoon with the Cowgirls with another doubleheader beginning at Noon MT.
