@MSUDenverTennis: Two Roadrunners Advance to Round of 16 at West Regional
AZUSA, Calif. – MSU Denver men's tennis players Lluc Limongi Ollers and Hector Cebrian Moral each won twice Thursday to advance to the Round of 16 at the ITA West Region Championships.
Limongi Ollers was a 6-4, 6-0 winner over Max Schmidhauser of Azusa Pacific (Calif.) in the first round, then beat Austin Stone of Westmont (Calif.) 6-4, 7-6 (6) to advance to a round of 16 matchup with Soeren Grandke of Azusa Pacific (Calif.). Grandke was a second-round winer over MSU Denver's Marco Jalalian, who had advanced with a 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) win over Pablo Zubieta of Fresno Pacific (Calif.).
Cebrian Moral defeated Asger Emil Ildor of Menlo (Calif.) 6-4, 6-2 and Keyon Gahvarehchi of Concordia-Irvine (Calif.) 6-3, 6-2 and will now meet Elias Walter of Colorado Mesa in the round of 16.
For the women, both Hanna Haber and Victoria Ricaurte-Cabas were first-round winners before losing in the second round. Haber beat Milana Hrudka of Menlo 6-1, 6-2, while Ricaurte-Cabas came from behind to beat Alessia Radu of Biola (Calif.) 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5).
MSU Denver lost all four of its doubles matches – two each for the men and women – with three of the losses coming to seeded teams.
