@MSUDenverVB: Roadrunners Advance To Regional Final

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The MSU Denver volleyball team defeated West Texas A&M 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to advance to the team's fourth consecutive NCAA DII South Central Regional final.

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The MSU Denver volleyball team defeated West Texas A&M 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to advance to the team's fourth consecutive NCAA DII South Central Regional final.
 
Riley Anderson and Annika Helf each recorded a double-double for the Roadrunners.  Anderson tallied 17 kills and 25 digs while Helf had 15 kills and 21 digs.  Amela Qershia led the team in assists with 25.  Abbie McCrimmon had a match-high 27 digs in the contest.
 
The match was closely contested throughout.  The first set was tied 15-15 before MSU Denver took control and scored six of the next eight points which included two kills from Anderson.  MSU Denver closed out the set on a kill by Maddy Williams to win 25-22.
 
The second set followed a similar path as the first set with teams exchanging points early and the pair finding themselves tied at 17-17.  Helf would tally three kills and Anderson serve an ace as MSU Denver would score eight of the final ten points to earn a 25-19 win in the set.
 
MSU Denver would fall behind early in the third set and trail by as many as eight, 16-8.  The Roadrunners would rally to score the next six points and narrow the lead to only two at 16-14.  West Texas A&M had built too big of a lead and MSU Denver would fall 25-20 in the set.
 
In the fourth set, MSU Denver was able to gain an early lead and would not give it up.  The score was tied at 5-5 and the Roadrunners would take a 9-7 during which four different Roadrunners would record a kill.  West Texas A&M attempted to mount a comeback and narrowed the lead to one at 19-18.  MSU Denver once again closed out the set scoring six of the final eight points to earn the vitory 25-20.
 
The Roadrunners are 29-2 and will play in the NCAA DII South Central Regional final on Sunday, December 8 at 4 p.m. CST.
