@MSUDenverVB: No. 1 Roadrunners Roll In 13th-Straight Win
DENVER – The No. 1-ranked Metropolitan State University of Denver volleyball team picked up its 13th consecutive win over CSU Pueblo by a score of 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-10) to move to 19-1 overall and 10-0 in the RMAC.
MSU Denver came out strong early in all three sets of the match. In set one, the Roadrunners built a 10-3 lead. Set two saw MSU Denver jump out to a 7-1 lead. The lead in the third set was 11-7. Even more impressive, the Roadrunners would finish the match by scoring 14 of the final 17 points.
"I thought we played a complete match from start to finish," said Head Coach Jenny Glenn. "We put the pedal down from the start and kept it down the whole match."
Offense came from all over the court for the Roadrunners. Junior Annika Helf earned a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs in the match while also tallying three service aces. Senior Riley Anderson posted 12 kills with senior Maddy Williams and freshman Alyssa Boyte adding eight kills each. Senior Delaney Eckhardt and sophomore Autumn Gibbs also each added three service aces in the match.
Glenn added, "Our setters are distributing the ball really well, and making great decisions. Our attackers are hard to defend. When they are changing their shots and not being predictable, it makes it a lot better for us."
The Roadrunners had 47 kills on 97 attempts with only 10 errors in the match for a .381 hitting percentage. Conversely, CSU Pueblo was limited to a .069 hitting percentage for the match with 20 kills on 102 attempts and 13 errors.
MSU Dever will host Regis on Thursday, October 31 and Colorado Mesa on Saturday, November 2 in two non-conference matches. Tickets are available at http://RoadrunnersAthletics.com/Tickets.
