@MSUDenverVB: Roadrunners Advance To RMAC Championship Match

DENVER – The MSU Denver volleyball team defeated Regis 3-0 on Friday night in the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Tournament to advance to the championship match on Saturday.

DENVER – The MSU Denver volleyball team defeated Regis 3-0 on Friday night in the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Tournament to advance to the championship match on Saturday.
 
The Roadrunners were led by Alyssa Boyte who had one solo block, assisted on nine blocks, and had eight kills in the match with a hitting percentage of .583.  Annika Helf and Delaney Eckhardt were both strong from the service line tallying a total of seven aces between them.  Abbie McCrimmon and Riley Anderson led the team in digs with 12 and 10, respectively.  MSU Denver outhit Regis .260 to .082 in the match including .500 to -.080 in the second set.
 
The first set was back-and-forth between the two squads.  By the time the score was 19-19, the game had been tied 15 times with no team leading by more that two points.  Regis would score the next three points and the Roadrunners would find themselves down 22-19.  MSU Denver scored the final six points of the set including three-straight service aces by Eckhardt to win the set 25-22.
 
The second set was a dominant performance by the Roadrunners.  MSU Denver came out of the gate scoring 11 of the first 12 points.  After Regis put up two points, the Roadrunners exploded again scoring nine of the next 10 bringing the score to 20-4.  MSU Denver won the set 25-9.
 
Regis jumped out early in the third set leading 12-5.  MSU Denver would rally back and score four-straight points to tie the set at 16-16 following a kill by Maddy Williams.  After exchanging points, the Roadrunners would fall behind 21-19.  MSU Denver would once again finish the set strong scoring six of the final eight points to win the set 25-23.
 
The Roadrunners are no 26-2 on the season.  MSU Denver will compete in the RMAC Championship on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Auraria Event Center.  Tickets are available at RMACSports.org.
