@MSUDenverVB: Roadrunners Moving On In NCAA Tournament

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The MSU Denver volleyball team opened the NCAA Tournament with a 3-0 sweep of TWU on Friday.
 
The Roadrunners were led offensively by Riley Anderson with 11 kills and Annika Helf with nine.  Skyler Michael and Maddy Williams each added seven kills with Michael hitting .400 for the match to lead the team.
 
Defensively, Abbie McCrimmon racked up 19 digs with Helf adding 10 more.  Alyssa Boyte was big in the middle once again with one solo block and assisting on eight blocks.
 
The first set started slow with both teams accumulating errors.  TWU held a 14-11 lead before the Roadrunners rattled off five of the next six points following a kill by Michael.  MSU Denver closed out the set on a 6-2 run and won the set 25-20.
 
The second set saw the Roadrunners assert their dominance defensively with an 11-1 run that included four MSU Denver blocks.  The Roadrunners would take set two 25-17.
 
The Roadrunners picked up where they left off in the in the final set, jumping out to a 12-5 lead after completing a 6-0 run.  After a kill by Williams, the Roadrunners had amassed their largest lead of the match 20-10 and would go on to win the set 25-16.
 
MSU Denver moves to 28-2 on the season and will play on Saturday at 4 p.m. CST in the second round of the NCAA South Central Regional.
