Music, Race & Social Justice Visiting Artist Series: Daniel French, storyteller

Thursday, November 7, 2024 4:30–6:30 PM
  • Location
    King Center Recital Hall
  • Description
Daniel French is a storyteller, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and performer known for his unique mix of traditional sounds with modern frequencies. As a founding member of LA’s renowned Las Cafeteras, he’s performed on stages from Bonnaroo to the Hollywood Bowl and beyond. Singing and rapping in three languages (English, Spanish, and Mohawk), his electric performances move minds & behinds. His hooky call-and-response anthems activate audiences of all ages. His musical style is a mix of live instruments blending hip hop, cumbia, and First Nations sounds accompanied by his 8-string jarana (guitar) over distinctively LA Latin and Indigenous beats. Daniel performs as a solo, duo, or trio. For Daniel, music is a bridge even the most divided community can dance on together.

The MSU Denver Department of Music, with support from the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, presents the Visiting Artist Series on Music, Race, & Social Justice.
