@MSUDenverBSB: Roadrunners "Under Consideration" for Regional Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS – The MSU Denver baseball team is officially "under consideration" for the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament.

INDIANAPOLIS – The MSU Denver baseball team is officially "under consideration" for the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament.

The NCAA's first set of region "rankings" were announced Wednesday – the teams under consideration are listed in alphabetical order and not by their rankings – and MSU Denver is one of eight teams under consideration for the six regional spots. The actual rankings will start next week.

Following the completion of the regular season and the Rocky Mountain Athletic and Lone Star Conference tournaments, the two tournament champions plus the four highest ranked teams that don't win a tournament will advance to the NCAA Tournament's South Central Regional.

A number of factors are considered by regional ranking committees.

Among those are in-region winning percentage, Division II winning percentage, strength of schedule, ratings percentage index, record against Division II teams with records of .500 or better, and Division II performance indicator.

In those categories, MSU Denver is strongest in winning percentage (seventh in the region) and Division II winning percentage (tied for seventh). The Roadrunners rank eighth in in-region winning percentage, ninth in RPI, 14th in performance indicator, and tied for 19th in the 22-team region in strength of schedule.
