Robb Named As A Recipient Of NCAA Today’s Top 10 Award
INDIANAPOLIS - Former softball standout student-athlete Shelby Robb has been selected as a recipient of the NCAA Today's Top 10 Award and will be honored at the NCAA Convention in January. The award recognizes former student-athletes for their exceptional athletic and academic achievements, as well as their contributions to their campuses and communities.
The Today's Top 10 awardees were selected by the NCAA Honors Committee, composed of representatives from NCAA member schools and conferences, as well as nationally distinguished citizens, including past awardees. The awardees will be celebrated Tuesday, January 14, at the NCAA Convention Welcome and Awards Presentation in Nashville, Tennessee.
Earlier this year, Robb was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Woman of the Year and is one of 30 candidates for the NCAA Woman of the Year.
Among her long list of accolades, Robb has been a two-time All-America first team selection as well as a two-time Academic All-America first team honoree. She was named College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America Team Member of the Year last week.
Not only did Robb post the best career batting average in program history (.425), she also had a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average while majoring in sport management. She also has contributed well over 75 hours of community service in her four years at MSU Denver, and she overcame a significant injury that cut short her sophomore season and delayed the start of her junior year.
Robb has been named to the All-America first team by both the D2CCA and AFCA this season, and was on the D2CCA All-America first team and the AFCA All-America second team in 2021.
Robb is a three-time D2CCA All-South Central Region first team selection (2021, 2023, 2024) and made the NFCA's all-region first team in 2021 and 2024 as well as the second team in 2023. A three-time All-RMAC first team selection (2021, 2023, 2024), she also made All-RMAC honorable mention in 2022.
Robb is a three-time Academic All-District and three-time Academic All-RMAC first team award winner, and won the 2022 RMAC Summit Award, for the highest GPA among players at the league tournament.
She was a 2021 NFCA National Freshman of the Year finalist, when she was also the RMAC Freshman of the Year and won an RMAC Gold Glove. She was on the 2024 NFCA National Player of the Year Watchlist.
In 2024, she ranked seventh in Division II in hits (91), fourth in doubles (25), sixth in doubles per game (0.42) and 16th in batting average (.457). She also ranked in RMAC top 10 and the national top 100 in on-base percentage (.491), RBIs (53), stolen bases (22) and total bases (136).
While her career .425 batting average is the best in program history, she also set the program's single-season record of .535 as a freshman. Her .457 average this season is the third-best ever at MSU Denver and her hits total was a program record. She also compiled top-five program marks for a season in doubles (second), runs (tied for fourth, 62), total bases and stolen bases.
Among active Division II players, she's fifth in career doubles (64), 11th in total bases (421), 15th in hits (257) and 19th in runs (174) despite missing time in 2022 due to injury. She is seventh among all active NCAA players, regardless of division, in doubles.
Robb is second in program history in hits, doubles and total bases, third in runs and triples, fourth in RBIs, and fifth in stolen bases.
She graduated with a 4.0 cumulative GPA while majoring in sport management, and she is a two-time D2ADA Academic Achievement Award winner and an eight-time selection to the MSU Denver Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
She has also volunteered with organizations such as Miracle League of Denver, Operation Christmas Child, Girlz Inc. of Metro Denver, Hearthstone and Hover Crossing, Houses for Warriors and Cardz for Kidz, among many others. Robb spearheaded a social media campaign for MSU Denver's Women in Sport Management Panel, which showcased influential women in sports within the Colorado sports industry.
