Hinthorne Joins MSU Denver as Director of Compliance
DENVER – MSU Denver Director of Athletics Todd Thurman has announced the hiring of Hailee Hinthorne as the department's director of compliance.
Hinthorne joins the Roadrunners after spending the 2023-24 academic year as the graduate assistant for compliance at Southern Illinois.

"With her background, both academically and athletically, and her passion for research and her attention to detail, we see her as an outstanding up-and-coming administrator. Her role is critical to the success of our program."
The director of compliance is responsible for ensuring departmental compliance with all MSU Denver, NCAA, and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rules and regulations. The position provides leadership and oversight of a comprehensive Division II compliance program in all matters pertaining to the monitoring, interpreting, educating, documenting and investigating of all institutional, NCAA and conference rules and regulations; submit required NCAA and RMAC reports; and serves as liaison to the NCAA and RMAC on all compliance rules interpretations. This position assists the senior leadership team and participates in the development and coordination of programs, policies, and procedures for all sports.
At Southern Illinois, Hinthorne's duties included updating the financial aid handbook for student athletes and the two-year tracer forms, uploading AFAs and national letters of intent for incoming student-athletes, utilizing Compliance 2.0, the transfer portal, and RSRO software, researching relevant matters through LSDBi, confirming eligibility for current and incoming student-athletes through the eligibility center and JumpForward, formulating APR information for coaches in their prospective sport, working athletic admission and ticketing gates, and ensuring program and team compliance with the NCAA, conference, and university rules.
Prior to her compliance work at Southern Illinois, Hinthorne was a law clerk at Basi, Basi & Associates in Marion, Ill., from February through July, 2023, and was a legal extern at Southern Illinois' Domestic Violence Clinic from January through May, 2023.
She was a law clerk for Dearborn & Ohio County's Prosecutor's Office in Lawrenceburg, Ind., in the summer of 2022.
Hinthorne earned her law degree from Southern Illinois in 2024. She graduated magna cum laude from Union (Ky.) in 2020 with a bachelor of science in psychology and minors in business administration and criminal justice.
She played soccer as a goalkeeper at Union and was named to the All-Appalachian Athletic Conference second team in 2019. She recorded 265 career saves and five shutouts.
